Yes, the time has come to put away childish things (to paraphrase Paul), and get out the bucket and spade. We’re off on our hols (the whole Beverly Hillbillies crew) so today is a mad rush to complete everything (or at least everything I won’t get shot for not doing in the next week) and be ready to be picked up at 5am by the driver. Honestly, I’m not sure I’m getting a week off - I’ve done at least three weeks work this week just to be able to get away.
Reports to finish, websites to oversee, photographers to commission and that’s before I make sure the laptop is packed, and the camcorder, and the camera, and the cables and the chargers - the important stuff! Well at least Carla (L&M) packs the suitcase (I wonder what I’ll be wearing on holiday - I really must make an effort to become a ‘Modern Man’ and do my own packing). Talking of Carla, she has had things to do - like walking the dogs (and maybe a bit more besides). And this morning that took twice as long as normal, as she bumped in to that talented chap Lee Evans whilst wandering round the woods, and spent an age chatting to him. She said she didn’t recognise him at first as he had a hat on (he was jogging) and she couldn’t see his ears! But, perhaps I should worry. After all, my own ears are not exactly my least prominent feature, so maybe she has a penchant for big-eared guys. She did say he was a lovely chap though (see - I should be worried!).
As those of you who have been here before will remember (thank you for coming back to read my ramblings), I should now be looking forward not just to my holidays but also to playing with a Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible, but that went wrong. And despite the best efforts of others (did they really try hard - I wonder?) nothing else has materialised, so I’ll just have to put up with the normal eating, drinking and sunbathing. Shame!
At the risk of being beaten to a pulp (the things I do, just to make a living) I will be writing here over the next week (occasionally). So you have the joys of reports on the Chrysler Grand Voyager from Hertz to look forward to, instead of the usual exotica.
This year we’re off to sunny Spain…..!
